The Opportunity  

As a Security Consultant you will be responsible for demonstrating leadership in technical skill and strategy. You will provide consulting services and may be required to lead a consulting team within your area of expertise. You will support management and other functional areas of the business to drive business outcomes. In addition to providing subject matter expertise, you will be required to provide a high level of understanding of general cyber security concepts. A Security Consultant is expected to maintain a high level of community/vendor recognition within a technical practice area.

Responsibilities  

  • Ensure the continuous improvement of your practice area, including the enhancement of existing methodology material, supporting assets and the Service Catalogue.
  • Present to the business on at minimum a quarterly basis on developments within your practice area.
  • Contribute to the sales process, which includes presentations, research, project scoping and tenders.
  • Ensure the quality of technical documentation of others within your practice area.
  • Work with aligned vendors to understand technical roadmaps and new solutions to market.
  • Provide client support and technical relationship management as required.
  • Provide detailed architecture, design and migration strategies.
  • Maintain a high level of technical skill commensurate with the emergence of technology and vendors.
  • Lead and mentor others within your area of expertise. Promote a high-performing culture within the team, focusing on consulting and delivery excellence. Foster innovation and positive change.
  • Lead the direction for training and development required to meet the consulting strategy.
  • Provide leadership on implementing and delivering projects.
  • Provide leadership in identifying, defining and architecting client solutions.
  • Advise management on the consulting strategy and drive the growth of business in your practice area.
  • Be adaptable to discussing a wide range of cyber security concepts and contribute to different cyber security technologies.
  • Assist clients with product implementations.

Key Competencies & Experience:

Technical Knowledge  

  • Knowledgeable in IT service management best practices and processes.
  • Excellent ability to strategically guide and technically implement secure enterprise level solutions within practice area, including within legacy enterprise environments.
  • Experience with security risk and compliance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, 31000 series, PCI-DSS, NIST, Australian Government ISM and how they apply to customer environments.
  • Excellent understanding of core security technical fundamentals and principles.
  • Broad understanding of IP networks and the mechanisms, appliances and controls to protect them.
  • Able to assess and validate compliance to acknowledged security standards
  • Knowledge of other third party DLP toolsets such as Mimecast, Zscaler and Netscope.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Purview  
  • Excellent understanding and extensive experience in the professional service/consulting processes and delivery
  • Understanding of industry best practices for security architecture frameworks, tools, standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of cyber security standards, processes, policies and metrics (encompassing network security, application security and data security).
  • Understanding of cyber security principles and security layers.
  • Broad understanding of IP networks and the mechanisms, appliances and controls to protect them.

  • Always maintains a high standard of dress (business attire).
  • Exceptional ability to create original documentation including assessments, design, configuration guides, tuning guides and operational guides to a template standard.
  • Strong ambition and ability to develop and expand cyber security services and product support.
